Since 2001, UMYOS has been organized on a national scale under the name of “The National Vocational Schools Symposium”. During the closing session of the 4th Symposium in 2007, a step forward was taken and necessary procedures were initiated to transfer the symposium into an international one.

Information and communication technologies have transferred the landscape of several sectors giving rise to new operational models and disrupting exiting ones. This influence is clearly observed in various sectors including communication, finance, production, health, and education. With the spread of the lifelong learning perspective resulting from the digitalization of education, a significant change in the learner profile seems to have emerged. The Vocational Schools play a crucial role given their role in training intermediate staff who have sufficient knowledge and skills needed in various fields such trade, industry and service sectors.

Professor Stanislav Ivanov

Stanislav Ivanov is professor in Tourism Economics and Vice Rector (Research) in Varna University of Management. He is the founder and the Editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Tourism Research (ESCI, Scopus). He authored over 120 publications (books, book chapters, articles, conference reports and industry reports) in the field of robonomics, hotel marketing, hotel chains, pricing and revenue management, destination marketing and management, tourism’s impact on economic growth, political issues in tourism. He also serves on the editorial and review boards of over 30 other journals. Professor Ivanov keeps close links with the tourism business. Through Zangador Ltd., Professor Ivanov conducts trainings in Hotel marketing, Pricing and revenue management, and Marketing audit. He also implements marketing research projects, prepares specialized analyses and reports for various companies. Professor Ivanov is active researcher, conducted research and delivered keynote speeches and lectures in several countries over the globe including the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Norway, Cyprus, USA, and Italy.

 Dr. Hossein Olya

Dr. Hossein Olya is a Senior Lecturer in Consumer Behavior and Director of Research Development for Marketing and CCI at the Sheffield University Management School, The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (UK). His research has a dual focus: consumer behavior and tourism marketing with a focus on complexity theory. He has been delivering lectures in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules for the eight years in international and multicultural universities. At an institutional level, he has provided academic leadership for several academic colleagues and early career researchers. In the last three years, Dr. Olya had over 40 academic publications including 4* and 3* journals with high impact factors. He is currently serving as associate editor of the Service Industries Journal and as an editorial board member for other peer-reviewed journals such as International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Tourismology, being among the top 1% of reviewers in the fields of business and management as determined by Publons in 2017-2019. He is a regularly invited speaker to many prestigious international conferences in Italy, South Korea, Cyprus, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Africa and UK.
